About Me

My name is Lucy Pelham and I'm from Richmond, Virginia. I'm a senior at Clemson University majoring in Language and International Health (LIH) with an emphasis in Spanish and a minor in Cluster Life Sciences. Upon graduating in December 2023, I plan to continue working in the healthcare field to gain more hands-on experience before attending school to become a physician assistant.

During my first year at Clemson I did not have a declared major, and after hearing about the LIH program and seeing how it combined my interest in Spanish language and culture with my love for science and the opportunity to be of service to others, I found it to be a perfect fit for my academic, professional, and personal endeavors. Being a learner and forming connections with people bring me the most joy in life, and my time at Clemson has given me the opportunity to pursue these values inside and out of the classroom. My strong work ethic, optimism, and leadership ability allow me to adapt to different professions and organizations that I am a part of, and my time working at a health practice enables me to apply knowledge from my health classes while growing my interpersonal skills and empathy.

In addition to these driving forces, I have had a passion for traveling since a young age. My experiences abroad have shaped my perspectives on life and the world, molding me into a more well-rounded and open-minded person as I work toward deepening my cultural humility. With all that I have gained through my Clemson experience and will continue to learn through my post-graduate plans, I hope to apply these understandings in a career in the medical field.
