In February 2023 I boarded a flight at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport bound for Santiago, Chile, with the ultimate destination of Córdoba, Argentina, where I would be living with a host family, taking classes in Spanish at a university, and completing an internship at a health clinic that served a low-income neighborhood.
